EMPLOYMENT BUEEAU.As hinted in last Junes issue of The Advance,the Y. M. C. A. has this year established an employment bureau. Through the sacrifice of timeand effort of some of our members, the bureau hasbeen placed on a good footing and its efforts havein a large degree been successful. There is, however, a great field yet open for the development ofthis work. Mr. Lanison will in the future havecharge of this work and*it is hoped that a muchlarger number of boys may be helped to obtainwork. A.,with the aid and advice of President Parsons, secured what may be termed an Association House.The idea of an Association House is bv no meansnew. The larger associations at I. U. and Purdue—in fact at nearly all colleges and universities ofany importance—have had such houses for manyyears. The need of a place to serve as headquarters has long been felt here, but not until this yearwas it obtained. This house is located at 441North Fifth street, The purpose of the Association in this undertaking is not to establish a dormitory at all, but simply to have a place that maybe known and used as headquarters, where onelarge room may be used for committee meetings,Bible classes, reading room and office. The expenses thus incurred will be met by the Associationitself. The great value of such a house is alreadybeing felt in the resulting unity and success of thework. Daily papers are on the reading room tableand any member of the school is welcome to callduring the evening and use them.YOUNG MENS CHEISTIAN ASSOCIATION.The outlook for a successful years work in theAssociation has seldom been brighter. The youngmen of the school are almost universally in sympathy with Christian work and nearly three-fifths |
