76THE NORMAL ADVANCECias& <0rgam?attongCOLLEGE COURSE NOTES.ON Monday, November the twenty-fourth,
the first inter-class basketball games of
the year were played. Plenty of spirit was
present on all sides. What did the College Course do to the Jun¬
iors? Oh my! It was cruelty to the helpless.
Two score keepers, not being used to such
strenuous exercise in tallying, had to be carried
out—exhausted, and many wagers were made
as to whether or not the College Course score
would reach three figures or not.All College Course men were good goal get¬
ters, while Pickett was the lone scorer for the
Juniors. The line-up was:College Course (59) Juniors (5)Knauth F CarpenterSwannigan, Shrincr.. F RobbShaffer C PickettWann G MichaelGrove, Hyndman.... G TocmohlenJust as we go to press we learn that HeineKnauth has been elected captain of the basket¬
ball team. Theres College Course for you!SENIOR NOTES.On Friday evening, November 14th, the Sen¬
iors met in the Association Rooms where Mrs.
Dever entertained with reading. After the
program, the members of the class spent an en¬
joyable evening playing charades. Refresh¬
ments were served.Mr. Harrison Toney was elected representa¬
tive to the Board of control of the Advance. The Seniors have chosen purple and old gold
for their class colors. From time immemorial
kings have worn royal purple embroidered
with gold and it is fitting that these colors should be adopted by the Seniors, whose kingly power will lie in the knowledge they have gained. The members of the Senior class are proud of their basket ball men. At the first game it was proved that they have splendid material, which will surely make good when the final test comes. The three indispensable of genius are under¬ standing, feeling, and perseverance. The three things that enrich genius are con¬ tentment of mind, the cherishing of good thoughts, and exercising the memory.—Southey. |
