I shalljust ask Jack to come in for a few minutes beforewe go.A recent visit to the Highland school of thiscity shows the school to be in a flourishing condition. Harry Shickle, through Junior 02, isprinciple, and Daisy Shuttleworth, Sophomore,01, teaches the primary grades. Miss Bergenand Miss Katzenback have charge of the intermediate grades.The children of the little country district schoolhad decided that the teacher was not intendingto observe the Christmas time by the usual treat. Accordingly, on the morning before theholidays began, long before it was time for theteacher to make his appearance, all the pupils,large and small, were gathered in the schoolroomto see the fun. The girls Avatched from the win^dows, ready to give the alarm if the teacher appeared, while the boys were busy locking andbarring the door and fastening the windows.They waited long, but there was no sign of theteachers approach. When hall-past eight came,the long-looked-for teacher, who had lost somehours of sleep and comfort sitting in his crampedposition, dropped from the belfry into the midstof the astonished pupils, and said, Im glad tosee you are all here on time this morning.F. R.First Prep, (second floor of stack room) :—Say, Bobbie, do you suppose they would let uswalk on this glass ?Second Prep, (grandly) :—Of course theywould Jimmie, there arent any Keep off theglass signs, hanging around.Sophie:—Rock and water are both of thesame substance.Freshie (reflectively) :—Humph, I supposethen if I were to throw a tin of water at you, youwould go down an swear that I throwed a rock atye!Sophie :I know it sounds rocky, but wait tillyou study Histology an you will learn a fewqhiiigs.NOTICE.Girls beware of two twin brothers who are inschool.
