Letter to Eugene V. Debs, 12/20/1919. Writes that she used to live in Toledo, Ohio where she never missed a chance to hear Eugene V. Debs speak. Says that she married about ten years ago and where upon she moved down South. Informs Eugene V. Debs that she and her husbands first son was named after Eugene V. Debs because Eugene V. Debs is one of our noblest of men. Tells Eugene V. Debs that it is a crime that he has to undergo such bitter trials for only working for the betterment of mankind. Writes that it is a shame that the working people have not yet used their votes to remedy their situation. Remarks that she has not given up hope that their situation will improve. Says that it is hard for her to have a sense of good will when there are people determined that Americas working classes shall continue in slavery. Tells Eugene V. Debs that her sons always remember Eugene V. Debs every night in their prayers. |
