Letter from John T. Frazer to Prudence Coker, 1948

Description: Letter from John T. Frazer, Executive Secretary Hering House to Mrs. Prudence Coker, Youth Director of N.A.A.C.P. The Letter is regarding the success of the Youth Council benefit of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People sponsored at the Hering House on March 27, 1948.
March 30, 1948 Mrs . Prudence Coker Youth Director of the N.A.A.C.P 146 Dundee Street South Bend, Indiana Dear Mrs. Coker: I am very happy to learn of the financial success of the benefit affair which the Youth Council of the National association for the Advancement of Colored People sponsored at Hering House on Saturday March 27, 1946. I assure you that this very splendid contribution will be acknowledged in our monthly report to the Board of Directors and our quarterly, report to the Board of Trustees. For fear that there might be some misunderstanding I want you to understand that this sum of money will be deposited in the bank and entered in our books as a voluntary contribution. I explained this in order that you and the youth under your leadership may realize that you are playing at least a small, part in making it possible for Hering House to operate within its approved budget of over 12,000.00 (Twelve thousand dollars} for 1948. Only in so far as we are able to realize our relation to the total picture will we be able to accentuate our effort enough to prove that we can support such a project as a racial entity. I am happy to welcome the Youth Council into the ranks of the group of organizations holding group memberships in the center. This means that your group is entitled to all the rights and privileges of such a membership as listed in our constitution and by-laws and the rules and regulations of the center. Sincerely John T. Frazer Executive Secretary
