Parochial School

Description: This painting depicts a small school with children playing outside in the fall. The trees behind and next to the school are mainly gold with hints of red and orange mixed in. The school stands in the middle of the painting with white walls and a green shingled roof. The schoolhouse looks possibly have multiple rooms with both a first floor and a basement level. There are three visible windows on the first level with green sunshades and vases full of flowers on the window sills. There is a shed that matches the schoolhouse to the left side of the schoolhouse. A buggy and a red spring cart are both parked in front of the shed. There are 16 children playing in the school yard. Two boys are playing underneath a tree on the farthest left side of the painting. The majority of the children are playing with a red ball in a circle in the largest area of the yard. Two younger boys are playing in the sandbox next to the school with trucks or farm-equipment. Two girls look like they are moving to go play in the trees behind the school. The title of this painting, Parochial School, is in the center of the bottom edge of this painting in black. Schrocks signature is in the bottom right corner in black.
