Description: |
This painting depicts a woman working on sewing a quilt in the front room of her house. The room has three windows and a door leading outside. The window on the left side of the room has a green sunshade and a yellow cat sitting on its window sill. The windows on the back wall are right next to each other with green sunshades, plants on the dividing area of the panes, and flowers on the window sill. Through these windows, one can see that it is winter with snow covering the ground. The flowers on the window sills are a variety of colors including pink, red, blue, and green. To the right of the windows, a coat rack is attached to the wall with a hat, travel bonnet, and coat hang to be used the next time someone goes out. The door leading outside also has a large window with a green sunshade and a buggy can be seen outside of the home. In front the windows on the back wall, a sewing machine sits with a woman working on it. The sewing machine is a treadle sewing machine with wooden table area and drawers surrounding the machine. The woman sitting at the machine is dressed in all blue with a white bonnet. She seems to be working on a pink and blue square quilt. Squares that have yet to be sewn together lay on the right side of the machine while a small finished piece sits on the right. Next to the machine a wooden chair with more finished quilt draped over it sits. On the floor, there are rugs, a trash bin, and quilting material are scattered around the room. The left side of the floor is covered in a large piece of finished quilt with a smaller finished section next to it. A red and tan rug lays underneath the stool the woman is sitting on. A white trash bin is next to the woman for scraps that come from the quilting process. More fabric sits in a basket near the trash bin for when more squares need to be made. Another yellow cat sits in the bottom right corner of the painting eating/sniffing something pink on the floor. The title of the painting, Do Not Disturb, is in the center of the bottom edge in black. The date and copyright are in the bottom left corner in black. Schrocks signature is in the bottom right corner in black. |
