A Bright New Day

Description: This painting depicts a farm with a creek running next to it in the winter. The creek on the left side of the painting runs up the left side of the painting. There are trees lining the river on both sides. Only three brown tree trunks are visible. The tree closest to the left edge of the painting has what appears to be a red squirrel half way up the trunk. Underneath the tree, there are two figures, both female, looking at the river. One figure is waring a blue dress with a black coat and head covering. The second figure is wearing a purple dress and a black head covering. The figure in the purple dress is holding a stick that is halfway in the river. The farmhouse is white with green accents around the windows and lining the roof of the front porch. There are twelve visible paned windows on the house. There are two red buildings beside the farmhouse. The first is directly to the right of the farmhouse and is a smaller shed. The smaller red building has a snow covered roof and brown outlined doors. The larger barn is red with a snow-covered roof and multiple outlined doors visible. There is a grain silo that is made of white/gray metal siding with brown accents. There is a windmill between the farmhouse and small shed that soars above the house and surrounding trees. There is buggy driving down the lane with three figures riding inside. In the bottom right side of the painting, there is a figure pulling a sled and a figure riding the sled. The sled is red with black runners. The figure pulling the sled is a girl dressed in black with a brown head covering. The figure riding on the sled is a girl dressed in a gray dress with a black head covering. The title of the painting, A Bright New Day, is located in the center of the bottom edge in black. Schrocks signature is in the bottom right corner in blue.
