Emrichsville Bridge, Indianapolis, Indiana, circa 1915

Description: The Emrichsville Bridge was constructed at 16th Street, at the south end of Riverside Park after the flood of 1904. Its medieval towers and arches were made of Bedford limestome and intended to complement the drive and sidewalks surrounding the park. It was demolished and replaced in 1949.From an accordian style souvenir folder of 22 different postcards depicting landmarks, monuments, and scenery in and around Indianapolis, circa 1915. There is also a full page information card about the city. To view the individual postcards contained in the folder, see objects ia-0021-0804 through ia-0021-0804w.Note: while some of the postcards included in the folder were published as early as 1905, this package was published after the first running of the Indianapolis 500 mile race in May 1911 and includes a postcard of the track, thus dating this particular souvenir folder and postcards after that date.
