Group of women painting or drawing in an outdoor setting. The standing man is probably artist William J. Forsyth (1854-1935), a Herron School of Art instructor who taught landscape and portrait painting classes at the Herron Summer School at Winona Lake between 1924 and 1930. According to The Herron Chronicle (Indiana University Press, 2003), the Winona Hotel was the schools headquarters and the classes were offered for six weeks at $7.50 to $9.00 per week. |
