Description: |
Cyanotype postcard of a boy and girl, with large hair bows, standing near a frame structure. Inscribed in pencil on the back is "1909 / Jim and Mary / 12 E Michigan St. / Indpls."Classified rental advertisements in the Indianapolis News during this era indicate that 12 East Michigan was a modern six-room apartment in the San Toy Flats. Sanborn maps indicate that the two-story apartment building has a wooden structure with a brick veneer front facade. The building was demolished and was later the site of Obelisk Square in the Indiana World War Memorial Plaza. |
