Santa Claus Land, Santa Claus, Indiana, circa 1950

Description: Two women and a man pose next to a large sign in front of the Santa Claus Candy Castle at Santa Claus Land. The sign is shaped like a book and tells the story of Santa Claus. Behind them is a house with turrets and other classical elements of a chateau. There is a set of patio furniture to the left.Santa Claus Land opened August 3, 1946, and was the brainchild of Louis Koch of Evansville, Indiana who worried that children visiting Santa Claus, Indiana would be disappointed to find Santa wasnt there. When it opened, the theme park themed childrens rides, a candy castle, toy shops, and Santa himself.
