Building on site granted by Mr. Dunn so far completed as to allow the primary school to be opened. Building 30 feet by 40. 2 stories above the basement, furnishing school-room and accommodation for the stewards family.[2]. has been used by me to forward the views of Mr. Thompson but to no effect. The same slang about Presbyterian ambition and union of Church & State that is so often heard in grog shops and on the stump from the mouths of demagogues has here been heard. I think it best not to have a charter unless we can get such an one as will answer the purpose for which it was intended. We will have a long session but I hope one of much benefit to our young but flourishing section of the state. I doubt not but we will charter a bank, hasten the completion of the canal, and improve the navigation of the Wabash. Give my respects to my friends generally and receive for yourself the assurance of my lasting esteem. In haste, Th.J. Evans[3].
