Irwin Library and the South Mall

Description: Designed by architect Minoru Yamasaki, Irwin Library opened to the public on September 9, 1963, and was dedicated on May 1, 1965. The buildings skylight can be seen in the middle of the roof. The librarys main entrance faces the South Mall, which is shown in this photograph. Parking spaces were removed from the mall in 1991 and replaced with landscaping, creating a pedestrian friendly space. The building to the right of the library is Residential College.
