| Description: |
This is a color photograph of the southern entrance to the original section of the former College of Missions building in Irvington. Located at 222 South Downey Avenue, the Christian Womans Board of Missions (their name is carved above the doorway) opened this building as a missionary training school in 1910. The organization occupied the building until 1928 when the school moved to Connecticut. The next occupant of the building was the United Christian Missionary Society who added onto the original building several times, staying there until the 1990s when they moved to Downtown Indianapolis. The building was converted into apartments for seniors, which opened in 1999. |
