Flowers bloom behind the Persephone statue in Holcomb Gardens

Description: A statue of Persephone stands in the center of a pool in Holcomb Gardens. Carved circa 1840 by Armand Toussaint, the statue was a gift from J. I. Holcomb in 1950. Behind the pool, several varieties of flowers are blooming, while in front of the statue there is a grass alley bordered by trees and a row of shrubs formed into hedges. Some of the flowers might be cleome, red and yellow celosia, white salvia, and spiderwort, and the leaves in the foreground are potentially irises.
