Description: |
Dale Johnson (left), Matthew Gray Palmer (center), and an Erin Ennis (right) stand next to a bulldog statue. Carved from Indiana limestone by Palmer, in association with Old World Stone Carving, the statue was the senior class gift from the Class of 1996, which raised almost $4,000 to pay for the statue. Johnson is the owner of Old World Stone Carving and at the time of the statues unveiling in 1996, both Palmer and Ennis were working of the company. The finished statue is 36 inches high by 48 inches deep by 31 inches wide and was carved from a 3,000 pound block of Indiana limestone, donated by Indiana Limestone and John Tucker. As of 2021, the bulldog statue still stands in its original location on the Butler University campus, on the south side of Atherton Union. |
