Description: |
Matthew Gray Palmer (left) and Dale Johnson (right) work on a bulldog statue and several tools lay near the feet of the statue. Carved from Indiana limestone by Palmer, in association with Old World Stone Carving and Johnson, the statue was the senior class gift from the Class of 1996, which raised almost $4,000 to pay for the statue. The finished statue is 36 inches high by 48 inches deep by 31 inches wide and was carved from a 3,000 pound block of Indiana limestone, donated by Indiana Limestone and John Tucker. As of 2021, the bulldog statue still stands in its original location on the Butler University campus, on the south side of Atherton Union. |
