Storage space in Jordan Hall

Description: This room, possibly a storage space, is likely in the basement of Jordan Hall. A chalkboard hangs on the wall near one of the doors and a coat hanger dangles from the ceiling, while a door and windows line the opposite wall. The photograph was likely taken during one of the Jordan Hall renovations that occurred between the late 1970s and the mid-1980s. A three-phase renovation of the building, completed between 1977 and 1980, included a new roof; classroom, office, and restroom updates; new plumbing and fire sprinklers; new lighting and electrical wiring; and the addition of wheelchair lifts, among other projects. Another renovation occurred in the mid-1980s, when the ceiling heights were lowered in order to reduce heating and cooling costs, new drywall and insulation were added, new floor coverings were installed in hallways and classrooms to reduce noise, and ramps for handicapped access were added in place of the lifts.
