This is a usual scene from a Senior After-Game Dance. Lower Right: Shirley Noel and Judy Figg collect moneyfrom Dan McVicker as he joins the crowd at the Senior After-Game Dance. With pride we look back on our sophomoreyear, when our class was the first to establishthe tradition of ordering our class rings in thatyear. The newly-elected Sophomore Councilswung into action as we put on our two dances—“Old Hawaii” and “Ocean Floor Follies.”Under the leadership of our elected officers, thejunior year gave us many opportunities to shoulder new responsibilities and learn more about classco-operation and working together. We elected the co-chairmen for our one bigmoney-making project of the year, the Junior Carnival. Selecting the theme, “Springtime In Paris,”the whole class set to work planning the differentattractions, memorizing lines, music, and dancesteps, and painting on sets and scenery. Theclimax of the evening came as our King andQueen were crowned at the Royal CoronationCeremony.Wiping the paint from our clothes, and theParisian atmosphere from the air, our thoughtsturned to the annual Junior-Senior Prom andBanquet. We decorated the gym with blue crepepaper, small pools, palm trees, and shimmeringblue letters as we carried out the chosen theme,“Blue Lagoon.” The romantic whirl of the promclimaxed a day of hard work. The banquet in thecafeteria preceded the dance. The “Blue Lagoon” was a beautiful tribute paidto the graduating seniors, and it marked thelast event of our eleventh year. We left, feelingthat we had definitely taken the last big steptoward our new roles of seniors.Page thirty
