Description: I think that I shall never seeMy teacher give to me a “B”,A “B” is such a pleasant thoughtWhen at last you’re climbing toward the top,But when my teacher shouts at meI know I’ll never get that “B”.When I see him sitting thereBehind his desk, in his chair,I’m quiet and studious as can be,And now I think, “i’ll get that ‘B’.’’But when his back is turned once moreI think, “This stuff’s an awful bore.’’So I get restless, and take a dare,Suddenly a paper wad flies through the air.And then that familiar line rings out,“If you can’t pay attentions, YOU get out!’’Poems are wrote by fools like me,And now I’ll never get that “B’’.Work is the key that unlocks the door to success. The old adagethat “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’’ is generallyaccepted, but the opposite idea that “all play and no work makes Jacka dull boy’’ is just as significant. A student who achieves the honorroll must value this idea. Students who were on the U. H. S. HonorRoll for the first semester of this year were: E. Joanne Richardson,Catherine Young, Tom Hardy, Betty Wampler, Mary Jean Richardson,Martha Belle Polley, Doris West, Catherine Wilber, Eva Wampler,Ellen Robertson, C. Joan Richardson, Doris Hardy, Vivian Galyan,Rebecca Boshears, Audrey West, Billy Richardson, Arda Richardson,Norma Lincicome, Norma Galyan, Vernal Richardson, Max Robertson,Melvin Long, Carolyn Polley, Maivereen Weathers, Donald Lincicome,Amy Wampler, and Billy Underwood. To gain this coveted honor a student must earn twelve points, orno subject lower than a B, while at the same time having perfect attendance.for the period. An A earns three points, a B two points, a C onepoint, a D no points, while an F detracts a point. An A in physical education earns one point; perfect attendance for a period also earns onepoint.
