9/3/99:Reflections on the First Week of SchoolOn the first day of school, we all met in the gym andlistened to Roc talk about his vacation in Hawaii. Hetold us about the school system and our new multi-agegroups. After that we broke up into our all ages groupsand learned about each other. We played games to getto know everyone. Then we talked to Roc some more.He told us about the ethos and our pledge to HarmonySchool. In our groups, we drafted our own versions of theethos and signed them.The hard part was yet to come-our new schedules.Getting used to our new classes and rooms was hard.Then we got a break and took a trip to Bryan Park. Weate lunch and did more all age group activities. At theend of the week, we were not only familiar with theschool, but with the other students as well.-U StaffgsilHF5- - ; ■Harmony School Olympics PicnicWe had hot dogs and not dogs, baked beans, pickles,chips, cookies, drinks, and 98 degree temperatures.Events included running around spasmodically, chasingballoons, spinning on yardsticks, crawling under chairsand generally having a whale of a time. The muchanticipated capture the flag game was postponed untilNovember second, when once again the advisory groupswill meet at Bryan Park. |
