Description: |
were even a year old. We had been together almostevery day for almost 13 years. We never got sick ofeach other. We loved each other. We were sisters. The tears started when I told Katie I wouldnt be goingto Tri-North with her. She cried and tried and beggedeveryday for me not to go to Harmony and leave her. Itold her wed still be sisters and best friends, but thesadness was too much. The saddest day of the year eventually came—sixthgrade graduation. It was the last real day that all ofus were going to be together. We fought the tears andheld them back until the very end of graduation. It waswhen they were showing all the slides of us andplaying the really sad song. When the last slide camewe all just burst into tears. Katie and eventuallyeverybody ran over to me and hugged me goodbye withtears because they knew a lot of them might never seeme again. For Katie and me, it was the hardest day ofour lives.Katie and I still keep in touch. We call each other, e-mail each other, and go tubing together until it gets toocold. (That was something we always did together-tubing.) When I went to Katies the other day, wesomehow got to talking about school. She told me shehad to do a creative writing paper about her favoriteperson, or favorite place, or favorite thing. She told meshe was writing it on her favorite person, me. So Idecided to do my creative writing on my favoriteperson, too, Katie.Katie and I are totally different, yet EXACTLY thesame. She was always more hyper, pretty and playful, while I was more rough and tough, and sportsy andoutgoing. But still we had identical personalities. Wewould both say the same thing or laugh or do somethingat the same time. Or wed both be thinking the samething and then just nod and know what was going on. Iguess it was because we spent so much time together.Best friends are inseparable. Best friends are forever!—Siri LarsenChris last day—party for the 1&2!First night of Hanukkah70 |
