Well, said Principal Addie, we mustforget everything else and attend the great meeting, too. Principal Addie thought of how the school-house had changed! The desks have been carved on by the last generation, and when the seniors of42 were in school, not even Robert Crum nor Norman Bean would have done that. Principal Addiewas somewhat worried about the looks of the school, but nevertheless, he and his wife hurried in orderto be the first at the meeting.Betty Hardy is an elementary teacher at Ellettsville. Heart broken from her love affair in hersenior year, Betty decided the best thing to do was to get a good education.Hester Baker is nurse at the one and only hospital in Stinesville. She is expecting a call any timeto be night superintendent in the Kill em All hospital at Terre Haute. Her last patient was OwenSears.Yes, Owen Sears was in an accident—not a serious one—just a few minor fractures. His wife,the girl he used to bring to the basketball games, has now convinced him that she is boss over the Searshousehold.Irene Miller (Moore) is working at the 5 and 10 cent store. She has been supporting her children since her husband has been in Stanford for the past six months working out a car bill.Who could be seen driving up in that big car but Sarah Hazel (Crandall) and her husband. Theyare in New York, where he is president of a large concern. Sarah is very contented with such a wonderful life.Next there is Faye Libkie. Faye has a permanent job of designing. She gave up her singing because she lost her voice while serenading Carl Smith in the moonlight.And of all people, here is Lorene Hamm. Lorene and her second husband are living a social lifein Hollywood. She is Hollywoods most famous singer.Who should be coming in wearing overalls, but James DeFord. Yes, Jimmy is working in an overall factory at Spencer. He is advertising the brand of overalls by wearing them today.With him is Wilma Paschal DeFord. They were married soon after commencement. Once shewas yell leader. Now she is yelling at Jimmy, who, like most other men, allows a woman to have herway.Who should be coming next but Warren Hanna. Warren and his wife, Betty Ann, are living nearIndianapolis. Warren is a prominent lawyer in the city.There goes Thelma Abbitt. Thelma is now star dancer at a night club.We really are surprised to see Norman Bean here, but he is. Norman is now vice-president of theUnited States, after making such good grades in Civics his last year. He decided to make a successof the future.Betty McClintock is still at the R. C. A. After her first and only romance was gone, Betty triedto forget the past. She is bookkeeper for the manager now.Of all things, here is that once so quiet Russell Gill. Russell has a jazz band in Singapore. Heand his band have come from there to entertain the class this afternoon.Betty Stines (Grubbs) and her husband are in Ellettsville. They did live in a mansion in Indianapolis, but Betty got homesick and came home. She thought there was no place like home.Behold! Is it really Robert Crum? Roberts red hair still shines in basket-ball. The Eagleshave just won the state tournament with Robert as their coach.Who should be seen next but Maxine Brown. Maxine is a beauty operator. Maxines latestflame is David Shirley. She is still the little Maxine of 42.Time surely does change things. Ernest (Mutt) Freeman is a doctor in a hospital. He is datinga little blonde nurse. Stick to her, Mutt. Some day you may have a hospital of your own.It is good to see the next person coming. Yes, its Virginia Gillespie. Virgnia is a stenographerfor Warren Hanna.
