TOP—Harold Pryor, Kelsey Hawkins, Walter Smith, Richard Lawson, GeorgeRobert Westfall, Chester Ooley, John Stansbury, Ollis Wilbur, Billie Gooldy.The Sophomore Class, consisting of a large number of pupils began its progress toward the Senioryear—1932, with Mrs. Brown, as first grade teacher, Miss Sembo as second. Miss Van Buskirk asthird, Miss Hepley and Mrs. Silvers as fourth, and Miss Ferguson as fifth and sixth grade teacher.Some students discontinued their membership in our class but new members replaced them so aconsiderably large class entered the assembly as seventh grade pupils. This was really the beginningof the cooperating of the Sophomore Class because the class was organized at this time with Mr. H.C. Weathers as Sponsor. The following officers were elected: Charles Price, President; JulianSparks, Vice-President, and Lillian Lonyo, Secretary and Treasurer.After a prosperous year the class of 32 now was promoted to their Eighth year. The officers wereas follows: Mr. H. C. Weathers, Sponsor; M. E. Endwright, President; Ervin Van Buskirk, Vice-President, and Kelsey Hawkins, Secretary and Treasurer. This year we selected our motto, which isSunrise not sunset. For our flower we chose red and white carnations, and our colors are walnutand gold.The Freshman year of course seemed much more important to us than any of the preceedinggrades and our goal, our graduating year, seemed much nearer now. This year our officers were:Mr. H. C. Weathers, Sponsor; Clarence Eakin, President; Helen Blackwell and Maude Craig, Vice-President; M. E. Endwright, Secretary and Treasurer, and Julian Sparks, Editor. In this year weheld a Freshman nite in April. Exhibition and entertainment were furnished during the evening forthe public. There was no admission charge.With a much better organized class and with more responsibilities we progressed to our presentyear as Sophomores. Mr. Weathers again held the sponsorship of our class during the first semester. Mr. E. E. Webster, replaced him the second semester. The officers are Clarence Eakin, President; Harold Pryor, Vice-President; M. E. Endwright, Secretary and Treasurer, and Maude Craig,Editor. In this year we held a Sophomore Festival, November 23.Throughout the years since the organizing of our class we have had a liberal amount of parties.Since our high school years, many Sophomore students have participated in the outside school activities. This year a large percent of the Basket-Bail Team is composed of Sophomore boys. Also theBoy Scouts, Hi-Y, Agriculture Club, Orchestra, Band, Home Ec Club, and Wrestling Team are represented by a large percent of the Sophomore Class.The Sophomores are looking forward to their Junior year. |
