He developed a corn plant that grew to be as large as an oak tree withears as big as a horse. The average yield was about 500 bushels to the acre.One of his most successful developments, however, is a plant that will rebuild atopsoil at an average rate of about six inches a year.After buying out the Ford Motor Company in 1965 and General Motors in 1967,Roger Gooldy has had much legal trouble. Unable to pay his income tax and ontrial for breaking the Sherman Anti-Trust Law, he has hired a shyster lawyer bythe name of Jeannie Kelley. He is now out on bail, but is in the hospital with aburned hand he received when he started to light a cigar with a twenty dollar bill.Martha Leach found a job immediately after the great ceremony of her graduationand was a very good secretary for about four years. Unfortunately, however, theboss wife fired her when she caught her on his lap. On her next job she had a handsome, young, unsuspecting bachelor as a boss and soon proposed to him; and, as he wasunable to resist her, his fate was sealed. She is the Big wheel now.To the inmates at Alcatrez, the name, Grundy Jackson, strikes terror, becausethe man who goes by this name is the warden of this institution. Grundy has notonly held up the prisons record of no escapes but has made it very uncomfortable forthe ones who are even thinking of getting out. He reads their minds.As a child, Mickey Matson wanted to be a nursej so in the year of 1950 she startedto I. 0. U. Medical School and four years later graduated with As. She then trappedherself a man who happened to be a doctor and should have known better. Together theywent to work and soon had a very permanent string of customers who thought she was thebest nurse one could have. After a few years they built a clinic for the preventionof cancer.After Bing Crosby retired, a very popular singer named Jack Holler came into prominence and became so famous that the mere mention of his name caused bobby soxers topass on to another world in a slight faint. He is so popular that he must have twentymen with tear gas guns to keep the women from tearing his clothes off his back and thendissecting him for souveniers.One of the most ambitious members of the Class of ,h9 was Phyllis Hahn. She hasat last realized her highest ambitions. After many years of trying to squander everything she owned, she has at last been invited to the Monroe County Poor Farm.After she graduated from E. H. S., Mary Sue Halstead bought a small store inEllettsville. As she was a very hard worker and saved everything she could, she soonbecame known as The Hoosier Food Tycoon. After buying cut Kroger1 s, she moved to amodest little twenty-room mansion on Vinegar Hill.George Daniels worked for many years as a house painter. One day he made a discovery that was to put fire departments out of existence. He developed a paint thatwould make wood completely fire-proof. He is now the president of the Sherwin-WilliamsPaint Company.After leaving school, Mrs. Ruby Ryan became the model housekeeper. Being a veryhard worker, she found time to keep a sixteen room house and raise four sets of twins.All eight of thes brats are boys and all are on the E. H. S. basketball team.21 |
