Bothfeature stories were written byJeff Carmichael as well.JimmieDurnilTHEMUSTANGSWhen Edgewoods doors openedon January 25th of 1965, JimmieDurnil was a senior who like manyothers came through the front doors inawe of the new school that they had tocall home. Durnil was a member of thebasketball, baseball, track and crosscountry teams in his four years andtook those experiences and an EHSeducation to Vincennes University. Hethen went onto the Navy for four years,all before settling in with the IndianaState Police where he worked fromJanuary of 1972 through August of2014.Along with his wife Doretta, theyhave raised two Edgewood graduates:sons Curt and Todd as well as agrandson, Ryan. 50 years later andDurnil still serves as an integral partof the RBB School District as he hasserved as a school board membersince August of 2000.I love Ellettsville and I am so veryproud of the RBB Schools. We arelucky to live in a place that still hasold-town togetherness. Ourcommunity comes together andcelebrates the good times just like ithelp during those moments oftragedy, Durnill said.In 1965, 83 students formed Edgewood High Schools first graduatingclass* 50 years later, one thing remains the same.
