In addition to playing for his highschool team, Cottingham also played on a travel teamcalled Alliance, which is a collection of the best playersfrom Bloomington, Center Grove and Columbus,according to Salzmann. He said Cottingham wasviewed as one of the top 18 players in the southern/central area for his age group. Factor in that Cottinghamstarted for Alliance and that elevated him to being oneof the top 10 players in the area.e (Cottingham) is very accurate withshobting and crossing, can use bothfeet, and is a very good dribbler,-boys soccer head coachCarl Salzman saiaHe is a really good technical player, Salzmann said.That means he does all the little things great.Focusing only on the soccer side of Cottinghamdoesnt tell his whole story. Academics mattered just aswell. In fact, Cottingham said he plans to pursue anuclear engineering program at Michigan StateUniversity. While only a sophomore, Cottingham saidhe understood the dedication it would take to fulfill hisdream.Itll take a lot of work and a lot of improving andjust all around development not only as a player on andoff the field but also as a person, Cottingham said.Down and out.
