However, some students choose thenon-binding early action or the binding early decision paths. In these cases, students find out whether they got into their college(s) of choice by this date.Seniors Hannah Kunzman, William Lundell, and Eric Johnsen share how they feelabout their plans for next fall.Question: Why did you choose [college of choice] as your early admission school? Is it binding?Hannah Kunzman: I chose Stanford for my early action school because it was my top choice that wasnt binding~I was too unsure atthe time to apply somewhere binding.William Lundell: I was interested in Harvard because of the emphasis on a complete, liberal arts education as a foundation forwhatever else their students want to pursue. The Harvard REA program is not binding.Eric Johnsen: I liked the fact that [Williams is] a smaller school, so theres more attention paid to you. Also, I like a lot of their specificprograms. I also visited there...its a beautiful campus surrounded by mountains, and theres hiking for freshman orientation. It wasbinding. I was kind of nervous about that at first, but then I realized that if I got in I would be happy, and I wouldnt have to do any moreapplications.Q: Do you plan to attend in the fall?HK: I will be attending in the fall! Im super excited.WL: Harvard was one of my top two schools, so it is very likely that I will attend next year.EJ: I plan on attending in the fall.Q: If so, what do you plan to major in?HK: I plan to major in English and history, but Im also interested in philosophy and political science.WL: I havent picked a specific major. Im excited to explore and take classes in a lot of different fields.EJ: I said philosophy on my application, but Im open. Its a liberal arts school, so you kind of have to do a bit of everything, which I like.Q: Have you been planning to apply there for a long time or was it a last minute decision?HK: I had planned to apply since visiting the school my sophomore year.WL: Ive known for a long time that I was going to apply.EJ: It was kind of last minute. I knew I was going to apply there, but I wasnt sure if early. I was deciding between there and Yale, wheremy brother goes.60 | Academics THE LAST HAWAIIAN SUGAR MILL SHUTS DOWN 12/171 HENRY HEIMLICH, HEIMLICH MANEUVER INVENTOR,
