Description: Reservescompile6-5 recordThe South girls reserve basketballteam, under the direction of head coachGeorgiabel Tidd and assistant coachRuth Hidore, compiled a 6-5 regular season record.Junior Janet Sutherlin was describedby Hidore as a very steady influence onthe team. Sutherlin, the high scorer onthe reserve team, played occasionally onthe varsity team. She accumulated 40points through the course of the season.The reserves hit only 20 percent oftheir free throws during the first game ofthe season. However, they connected on83 percent of their free throws duringthe seasons closing game. The seasonaverage for free throw shooting was 41percent.The team suffered two heartbreakinglosses at the beginning of the season—aloss to Seymour, 22-23, and one toWashington, 16-17.Freshmen Lisa Denewitt and Carol Furrand sophomore Carol Korb made outstanding contributions to the team.
