Although it hasbeen a popular addition, Chang didnt think itwas going to ever go live, and she wassurprised when Snapchat contacted her to saythat her design had been approved. These are some ofthe challenges a new student in high school may face. Eventhough being the new kid is scary, it is a part of life many peopleexperience.The adjustment to a new school can be a frustratingprocess. For new student, sophomore Brittney Allen, thehardest part was being expected to know how to doeverything, since none of the teachers know if you are new ornot. Junior Emma Parker, who moved to Bloomington fromCenter Grove, said the most difficult part for her was beingfriendly and making new friends.For sophomore Emma Hagen, being a new student was adifferent experience. Emma, who had lived in Bloomington fora year and a half, moved to College Station, Texas at the end ofher sixth grade year. This year, she was once again new toEvery year, new students transfer toSouth. This year, they talked about thehardest parts of adjusting to life here.Bloomington. I saw a good handful of people that Iremembered on the first day, and it was odd yet comforting tosee familiar faces, Emma recounted memories and places andsuch have been flooding back to my mind the longer I have livedhere.Senior Luke Domer transferred to South this year fromBloomington High School North. Being a Bloomington native,Domer said that he likes knowing a lot of kids in Bloomingtonfrom going to both schools. One of Domers biggest struggles inmoving to South this year was people from North who gave hima hard time. At the end of the day, he said, high school is highschool, therefore there is not much of a difference betweengoing to either school.Making new friends can be rough. Getting adjusted tothe new school can be trying to a students patience. But in theend, being the new kid is not so bad.
