The team came from behind three times to winwith a final score of 22-23.With their first win indicative of the season, the Bloomington Panthers clinched the South Central Conference this yearfor the fifth year running. Junior place kicker Dave Reeve seta new school record of most points scored in field goals.The Panther reputation was well represented as six menreceived All-State honors: seniors John Deckard, Bert Myers,Kevin McDevitt and Bob Yost, and juniors Marc Lunsford andDoyp RppvpAlso receiving state wide recognition: Fred Mathews andBruce Toby, seniors, and Reed May, junior.As the season closed, many looked ahead to 1973 when themythical state championship would not be dependent on popular polls.
