Description: le opening of fall also brings the camouflage and neon orange out of the closetsTwo senior hunters give an inside look at their hunting experiences. Its still dark in the morning hours. Its cold enough to see breath in a dense foeach time with each exhale. The tree stand is not warm, but for seniors MasonChandler and Brodey Robertson-Rader, none of these are concerns. Formany people, fall is full of early mornings spent in blinds and long days of sittingand waiting for the perfect shot.Chandler looked forward to open season for the better part of the year.Having been an avid hunter since the age of ten, he learned that hunting is allabout patience. Patience is a virtue; you cant rush animals, Chandler said. They just come when they come. Robertson-Rader, a 12-year hunter, venturedout seven times this season and was able to take down a doe. Both Robertson-Rader and Chandler find peace in their blinds. Huntingbrings Robertson-Rader seasonal joy. One time I was about to get a buck, butgot too excited and shot right over him with my bow, Robertson-Rader said. Iended up losing my arrow in the tree. In contrast, Chandlers favorite memoryfrom the blind was when he took his first turkey. There was a turkey about 25yards away, Chandler said. I couldnt move because turkeys are smart andwould hear me, so I shot him through the blind. Like, through the vinyl andeverything.Chandler and Robertson-Rader emphasized that possibly the mostimportant parts of hunting are the weapon used and the location of the blind.Chandler used a 12-gauge pump while hunting in Paynetown. Robertson-Raderhunted in a wooded area on his land and switched between a muzzleloader and acrossbow. While neither had a particularly successful hunting season this year, coming out with a kill is not all of which the sport consists. Enjoying the fall, learning patience, making memories, and sharpening skills were much moreimportant for the seniors.- BAILEY BOLER128 STUDENT LIFE>get OUT Now that its getting cold out, whado you do on the weekends?9 9Now that its cold outside, I will bewatching all nine seasons of theNetflix show The Office for myfifth time now. yy-freshman Brynne Newland9 9 I usually just like to watch movieswith my friends or at home withmy family, ft A-freshman Mallorey Daunhauer
