stars in theim±j™Through hard work and creativity, the Junior Advisorytogether to construct one of the most stunning proms yet.Upon entering the atrium as dusk fell on May 27, Bloomington HighSchool South students were astonished at how the school had beentransformed into a wonderland. But who was responsible for thistransformation? It was none other ^rtan Souths Junior Advisory Board(JAB), a dedicated team of students who, each*year, come together tocreate the night of a lifetime.Ea% April began the intensive process of prom preparation. Itwas prettimuch come after school if you can and stay until you have nochoice bil to leave,! junior Elizabeth White said. The JAB was incharge of [all things prom and made sure that everything came togetherto complete the creative vision. We didnt, seja each other too muchbecause we were so focused, White sajj£;jJ|JAB members needed to focus in, order to implement thetheme, A Starry Night: An Evening atthf.MeiGala. Because the t,was so involved, JAB members divided, and conquered. We had ourindividual groups that we would each be apart of and build things in,junior Hannah Decker said. The jtififors constructed a large cardboardclock as well as a paper tree that welcomed prom-goers into the atrium. There was a lot of pressure on us - just because [prom] is the one thingthat people always remember about high school, White said. For JAB members who had never attended prom before, therewere a lot of unknowns. I wasnt sure what to exjpect, but then I startedhearing people talk about how great the room looked, White said, I wavery proud of our work. f \It is safe to say that Souths prom would not happen without thehelp of the Junior Advisory Board. For future juniors you shoulddefinitely join, lending a hand is so much fun and we could use all thehelp we can get, Decker said.It was really fun being behind the scenes, and I became closewith people I wouldnt otherwise have been friends with, White said. Itwas just a fantastic experience.-ARIANNE KELLEY AND LUCILLE POWERS |
