PHOTO BYISABEL CULLATHERSenior Adele Brewer began her 2013figure skating season on January 18.Fourteen years of hard work paid off for senior AdeleBrewer, who began figure skating lessons at the age offour. Fourteen years later, she was still on the ice. Adelewas frequently found at the Frank Southern Ice Arena,practicing her solo skate routines, but there was nolassical music to be heard at these practices.Brewer preferred instead to pick and choose herown accompaniment; some eclectic selections includedthe themes from Iron Man and Harry Potter, BoogieWoogie Bugle Boy, and Adam Lambert tunes — Ring ofFire is a favorite.According to Brewer, her favorite memory from hertime on the ice was the competition hosted at MiamiUniversity of Oxford in Ohio February 2012. All theskaters really get to bond; that is when the individualsport becomes a team sport, she said.Brewers first show of this years season took placeon January 1 8, where friends and family showed up toshow their support.
