Description: Though each member of the girlsswimming and diving teamcompeted largely individually, theyacted as one united team. Wehave a very individualized sport, but we all have to come togetherfor one goal, explained seniorKathryn Hull. This kind of dedication to theteam was what formed theirinseparable bond: Every teamsays theyre like a family, but wereally are, said senior EmilyWagner.Because the 2102-2013 girlsswimming and diving teams wereso closely connected, senior nightwas especially bittersweet for bothteams. This was a time to reminisceabout all of the memories madethroughout the past season.Freshman year we had a lock-inand we slept in the pool area, recalled Wagner.Sectionals last year was areally fun meet and everyone swamreally fast, added senior TaylorTichenor. For some teammates, seniornight marked the end of a chapter, while others athletic careers werejust getting started. Wagner wasexcited to continue the sport at ahigher collegiate level. I think I amgoing to swim in college, saidWagnerRegardless of future plans, each girl would miss the uniquetraditions associated with thegroup. Hull would lament theabsence of the diving teams pre-meet prayer. I get to lead themand it brings us together, she said.Teamwork, sisterhood andfond memories were what madethe Lady Panther swimmers anddivers so special. Although a fewmuch loved members were leavingthe team, there were sure to beplenty more fun times and epicvictories to follow.- LUCILLE POWERS5.
