Description: TennisStory by Robert MorganThe boys tennis team made both an impact and an impression this season on the teamsthey played. The team record was 20-3, with outstanding performances from senior Jason Fisher,junior Adam Claerbout, and sophomore Michael Ratliff. The team had a larger number of playersparticipate this year than they have had in the past. Coach Joe Doyle said, At midnight madness Iexpected something more like 16 or so, but when 32 guys showed up, I was shocked, but it wasreally great. The team started out strong, beating Jasper for the first time in the history of theteam. South, ranked sixteenth in the state, was undefeated and playing strong until they ran intoCenter Grove, seventh ranked team.Few teams really knew how tough our team was this year. We proved a lot of peoplewrong, Claerbout said. Overall this year we had a really successful season and accomplished a lotas a team, and we showed we have one of the better programs in the state, Ratliff said.The team had a few matches they considered more important than others. After beatingJasper 4-1, they went on to shut out North 5-0 in midseason.They got just what they worked forafter winning the first sectional at home. We just got into the same routine in practice that we did inmatches.
