Carmichael was one of theteams inside/outside threats. The team started theseason in an impressivefashion, winning their first 11games by an average of 20points.It was good to get off to agood start, with all the doubtseveryone had about this yearsteam. On the court I feltI needed to be the calm oneand keep my head on myshoulders, Fisher said.Junior Kyle Hankins wasnamed Channel 6 Player ofthe Week for his performancevs. Pike on Feb. 25, where hescored a career high 37 points.Receiving the award was agreat honor. Not a lot of guysget recognized this way. As forthe game, I was just glad theshots were falling, Hankinssaid. Before each game the teamwould get together and claptheir hands to get themselvesready to play. The clapping was a goodritual to have before games. Itgot us pumped up and warmedup. We also added some newrhythms this year, seniorJohn Strain said.Every Saturday that theteam had a night game, theywould all go to a teammembers house for lunch. It was fun getting togetherand playing cards and eatingfood. The team is pretty closeso it was just like hanging outwith your friends, junior JCHulls said.Martinsville was a big rivalfor the team. Though they onlyplayed the Artisians once, thegame was in Martinsville andit was the second to last gamebefore the city showdown withNorth.Playing at Martinsville isalways a hard game. But weworked very hard in practicethe whole week, and played agood team game.
