Description: Perfect Shots£irls soccer team adds many new faces and winsConference title ~by Heather EmersonFreshman Kelly Laughlinled the team in games started,shots, goals, assists, points,Conference Indiana goals andgame-winning goals.I was the forward and Iwas put in many goal-scoringsituations. I made it my job toput the ball in the back of thenet, Laughlin said.Sarah Greenberg and LizaPrall were the only twoseniors on the team. Theyshowed the freshmen differenttechniques and strategies tohelp the team succeed.Liza took a lot ofleadership. She pushed us tobe our best. Sarah did too.They were good. They helpedus out a lot, junior SarahHall said.During one of the lastpractices, the girls decided tohave a little fun.We were practicing outsideduring one of the only rainydays we had all season. At theend of practice we did divingheaders into this big mudpuddle. It was really fun.Everyone was covered in mudfrom head to toe. Nobodysparents wanted their cars toget muddy so some girls hadto walk home or get anotherride, freshman Amy Cookseysaid.The team would always do awarm-up together before agame to get themselvespsyched for playing.Before a game we alwaysdid a Brazilian warm-up. Itswhere you skip around the fieldin a line and there are differentarm movements. Its allcoordinated, junior LindsayWood said.The team spent a lot of timewith each other, both on andoff of the field. They would goto team dinners and volleyballgames together.Our team ... we all gotalong. Were all real close. Likebest friends. We know eachother so well and we had a lotof chemistry, freshman CariThatcher said.The team playedBloomington North twiceduring the season. Afterwinning a close regular seasongame 3-2, the Panthers tookthe Sectional match-up 3-0.Theyre our cross-townopponents and always give us agood game. Its for pride andbragging rights. Its one of ourbiggest games of the year.
