Description: Recreationa nationalhappeningEntertainment played animportant role in the 1975-76school year. Watching television;listening to music; attending concerts, plays, and movies; andplaying pinball kept studentsentertained.The television season broughtmany new shows like WelcomeBack Kotter and Starsky andHutch, which were named bestnew shows in the PeoplesChoice Awards. Other newshows included Baretta,Phyllis, One Day at a Time,and afternoon soap operaMary Hartman MaryHartman.On the music scene The Captain and Tenile won their firstgold record, Love Will Keep UsTogether, which was also thenumber one song of the year.Locally, Bloomington had afull concert season. In September IU sponsored the JordanRiver Festival at 1 Oth Street Stadium. The all-day affair featuredAerosmith and Blue Oyster Cult,along with several other groups.October was the month for theChicago concert, which includeda complete repertoire of theirmusic. Later concerts featuredJethro Tull, Carole King, andHarry Chapin.Movies also provided entertainment. For fans of sad movies,there was The Other Side of theMountain, about the tragedy ofpotential Olympic skier Jill Kin-mont. Comedy goers enjoyedThe Sunshine Boys and LetsDo It Again; and the thrill ofexcitement was portrayed inJaws, which was a box officesell-out. One Flew over theCuckoos Nest received sevenAcademy Award nominations.Pinball provided more entertainment for students, especiallyas they spent many hours tryingto be Pinball Wizards.30 EntertainmentLEFT PAGE.
