How will knowing iambicpentameter get me a job? A commoncomplaint among high school students isthat the material they are learning will notbenefit them in the real world. While thereare reasons for the curriculum we follow, frustrated students have another option:internships. This on-the-job opportunity providedstudents with hands-on experience thatcould not be found in the classroom. It wasalso helpful as seniors went about choosingcolleges and careers. The intern programenabled students to choose a business, office, or job site to get real-worldexperience and to find out what a particularjob is like. Most students chose a place that had aconnection to their career plans as well ascollege interests. At first I did it just to get out of school^ r ^ f ^ r ^i r ^ m r ^ r ^ r ^ r 1e^LE^tnUJLeJLnJL^Le 1 ■Adam Bledsoe44 GOTHIC • reflections
