Description: BEYONDSCHOOLACTIVITIESThere are more sports in Bloomington besides school relatedathletics. One sport North and South students and skaters in thesurrounding area participate in is the Bloomington Blades.The Bloomington Blades hockey team plays their homegames at Frank Southern Skating Rink. Hockey is fast paced,different, fun and it takes a lot of skill being on skates, said seniorHank Selke, one of Blades captains.Another club is Circle City Volleyball Club which picks theirteam members from the top thirty girls in the state. There are three agegroups: 14s, 16s, and 18s. For the past couple of seasons, this clubhas qualified for the Junior Olympics and finished in the top fifteen.Being involved with Circle City has really helped me develop as aplayer on and off the court. It has allowed me more exposure to collegecoaches and it resulted in a full-ride scholarship to a division onecollege, stated senior Christi Cherry.The Bloomington Swim Club is the second largest swim clubin the state. It gives students the opportunity to swim all year round andthe experience to make either the Junior or Senior swim meets.A club that very few people know about is the BloomingtonFigure Skating Club, said Sarah Tynan, one of seven skaters at South.The Bloomington Figure Skating Club has really helped a lot offigure skaters to improve by making the ice time more accessible.Before the BFSC got started, it was really hard to pursue any figureskating at all.
