Description:	Competing in all areasMrs. Granich shows her stuff at the Academic Decathalon sponsored Senior-FacultyBasketball Game.«,<;For the first time Souths Academic Decathalon team was open to allfour grade levels. Nine people compete at Decathalon competition andthey are divided into three categories. The first is scholastic, for themembers of the team with a 2.5 to3.0 G.P.A. The honors team is thefinal category established for thosewith a 3.5 to 4.0 G.P.A.The scoring for the competitionsis quite complex. After the first event,judges take the top two competitorsscores from each team. Those twoparticipants are the ones that countafter the other nine events. Preparation for the team begins in Mayand in late August the team assembles and starts preparing for the regional in January. South won the 1994regional and went on to place secondin the State competition.The Senior vs. Faculty basketballgame is one fundraiser that the teamheld. The senior girls came out ontop, but the senior boys were not aslucky. Team member Alii Abrahamsaid of the experience, Being a partof the team was a fun, rewardingexperience.
