They got together andmade the decisions and arrangements that go into theplanning of a prom. They arranged for the band, the useof Alumni Hall, the refreshments and the decorations.This group of students wasalso responsible for raisingthe money to pay for theprom.The selling of candy andcarnations, for ValentinesDay, were two of the majorfundraisers that the boardsponsored. Computer datingcards were also sold.Fundraising went very well.We came out in the black andeven had a little money leftover for next year, said theclass sponsor Joann Arthur.At one time the junior advisory board was thinking ofcombining the South promwith Norths prom. In thebeginning the idea was notvery popular, but in the endpeople started to changetheir minds. However theidea never really got off theground. The junior promof 1989-90 would have beenmuch nicer if we had joinedwith North. We could haveshared ideas. A lot morecould have been accomplished if we had had a littlemore time to talk it over.Over all I think the prom wasgood, but it could have beenbetter, said StephanieThompson.Our hard work and effortpaid off, the prom was verysuccessful, said JennyWrenn, the junior class vice-president.Members of the junior advisoryboard take a break from their decorating to talk about the upcomingprom.Havent I done a wonderful job?Tom Stryker shows off his handiwork.IThe 1989-90 junior advisory board.ACTIVITIES / 207 |
