Description: Bluegrass win for bandDancing in Robert Dubinskishead are the musical tones fromhis show, South Side Story. Before the boiling summer set its claws onBloomington, the PantherRegiment attended bandcamp in early June.Having band camp earlierwas better for the bandbecause we had moretime to clean up theshow, commmentedJackie Thompson, guardmember. The Panther Regiment, increased by sixteen members from last year, playedat home football games. They performed at theHoosier Dome, which hasnot been done for the lasttwo years, when Southplayed against North. Fora band with only fourteenseniors, I feel that ourperfomances were verygood, the potential of thePanther Regiment is veryhigh, commented RobertDubinski, band director.M.B.A. was a time whenwe all came together andworked for the same goal,to perform to our highestabilities, added Lori Wise, drumline captain, aboutthe overnight trip to Illinoiscalled Marching Bands ofAmerica. On October fifteenth, the Regiment performedat the Bluegrass Festivalcontest in Danville, Kentucky. The band receivedfour first place awards inguard, percussion, bestmusic and field commanders.Mr. Dubinski was reallyexcited about most of theperformances. The Martinsville halftime show wasone excellent performance, commentedDubinski. I think the seniorsgenerated a lot of energythat night and it caught onthrough the rest of theband. We were really excited, and that made thecrowd react to us. That iswhat gets me excited;when the crowd appreciates our performances andshows it by reacting enthusiastically. To end the season on agood note, the marching band went to Corydon,Indiana and took best percussion and color guard.Participating in themarching band was an enlightening experience forme, said Jason Davidsonwith a grin.
