Lending moral support areher daughter and grandson.The Varsity Club which is composed of students involved inathletics.Wrapping sandwiches,volunteers Ronda Fleener,mother of junior lineman Noel,and Stacy Smith, lineman CraigSmiths sister, get ready foranother meal.Boosters aid SouthExtra dollars for the extrathings that make Souths extracurricular programs superiorcome from the Booster Club.The close of the 1986-87 schoolyear marked the end of JimDunnings tenure as presidentof the organization.Organized by the parents ofSouth students, the club also in-cludes faculty members,students, alumni and friends ofSouth. Over the past six yearsthe organization has continuedto grow and has played an increasingly significant role inhelping the high school provideexceptional extra-curricularprograms.The efforts of thesevolunteer parents have reallymade a difference in our abilityto maintain high standards ofexcellence, explained Dr. GaryDruckemiller, principal. Forexample, they have beenresponsible for obtaining scoreboards the school could notafford.Jim Dunning has devotedcountless hours as leader of theBooster Club, said Dr.Druckemiller. He has done anoutstanding job and tremendous growth has occurred during his two years as president.Jim is a real friend and a staunchPanther supporter, he said.Booster leaders cooperateclosely with Souths administration and athletic department.Our role is not to run athleticsor activities at South, explained Dunning. The school and itsadministration is the meal, we(the Booster Club) are the thedessert.Dunning cites the involvement of minor sports in club activities as a major accomplishment of his term as president.For example, the girls swimming team parents raised $3,000last year. Thats six times theswimming budget, so, moneywas available for other sportsand activities, Dunning said.58 Activities\
