Description: ^^^■iStudent Councilchanging its waysTraditional Homecomingevents were sponsored by theStudent Council. A very successful banner contest waswon by the sophomore class.Their banner theme was Purple Panther Pride. Many people enjoyed a dance afterwardwhich featured the professional John Pearson as D.J.The Student Council revisedthe Winter Sports Queen Courtconstitution. Girls participatingon the Court were nominatedby teachers instead of theSouth students. Only thequeen was finally chosen bythe student body.Sharon Goh, the newteacher sponsor, was very active. She helped the StudentCouncil organize Teacher Appreciation Day and a computerdating service. Several Councilmembers participated in stateconventions, workshops, andbusiness meetings. The1984-85 Student Council wasable to adjust to a new sponsoreasily and for the first year wetook an active part at the statelevel in representing Bloomington South, commentedCouncil President ChrisRobertson. Mary Ruth Dunn,Julie McCullough, Holly Mull,Laurie Porco, and ChrisRobertson each spent severalweekends representing BHSSat student governmentconventions.Student Council providesstudents with an opportunityto work with other teenagers.Student Council conventionsallowed me to meet new people from all over the state,said junior Mary Ruth Dunn.STUDENT COUNCIL.
