Description: nrwSouthssingerssucceedThe Sounds of South wereawarded first place at thePlymouth Crimson ConnectionInvitational; they earned thirdplace at Bishop Luers MidwestSwing Choir Invitational, whichis the most prestigious showchoir contest in the midwest,said choir director KevinButler. The Sounds sang Sunday from the play Sunday inthe Park with George, Mackthe Knife, Song for the Asking, and On a Sunday by theSea.The Sounds of South, a newname used this year, wasselected by the BHSS facultyfrom entries suggested bystudents. Sophomore LauriPorco was awarded $50 for herwinning suggestion.Butler felt, in his secondyear, the success and involvement of the choirs hasbroadened school awarenessof the department; studentsare taking pride in thedepartment.The other two choirs, theSymphonic Choir and theWomens Chorus, spent moretime this year on music theoryand music appreciation. Bothheld pre-fall, holiday, and spring concerts during the year,and participated in the solo-ensemble contest.Choir Director Kevin Butler provesthat practice make perfect. All threechoirs presented concerts and attended numerous contests.Junior Jeff Wright displays hisstrength in On a Sunday by the Sea.Choirs 77
