Hiscomments after theshooting were a majorpiece of evidence. Alawyer for theprosecution stated thatMr. Goetz said he sawno blood on the subject(Darrell Cabey). Atthat time, he told thesubject You dont lookso bad, heres another, and shot him a secondtime. This and otherevidence changedpublic opinion overGoetzs vigilantism.Other evidenceincluded the testimonyof victim Troy Cantelin the grand juryproceedings. He statedthat he did not demandfive dollars from Goetz, but in fact said,Mister, can you giveme five dollars. That and other newevidence changed thecontroversial courtcase. After all theevidence was weighed,Goetz was indicted oncounts of attemptedmurder, assault, reckless endangerment, and criminal possessionof a weapon, and wasdue to stand trial. This case made anissue of vigilantism, aspeople began to worrythat it may runrampant, as it did in the1880s.These fears wereagain aroused in May,1985, in an incident ata Texas high school. At Ft.
