Description: Girls have good seasonwith help of 84 seniorsThis season I learned how easy it wasfor such a wide variety of people to worktogether effectively, which helped me tosee things in a new light.Roblyn AndersonDespite weather problems at the beginning of the season, Souths girls tennisteam finished with a winning record of11-5.According to Coach Maureen Kennedy, the season was very very good.The South teams only losses were tothree state ranked teams—the onesranked first, third, and 11th. The finalstatistics were a lot better than I expected, Kennedy commented.The coach attributed much of theteams success to the seniors. Nine girlson the 16-member team were seniors.The seniors this year didnt get senioritisat the end, which helped hold the teamtogether, Kennedy said. She also notedthat many teams start out strong andthen fall apart. This year the teamstarted out strong and stayed strong,according to Kennedy.The varsity lineup consisted of seniorsRoblyn Anderson, Kristin Brown, Liz Burrello, Bridget Droast, and Dawn Faris;junior Katie Froehle; and freshman HollyMull.TOP: With a look of determination on her face,senior Bridget Droast puts all her force behind areturn hit. Droast, who has been a member of theteam for four years, was voted B-woman, as well ashonorary team captain.MIDDLE: Senior Arija Bareikis scurries to return aball with her backhand stroke.
